This article from Guelph Today, Aug. 22, 2017, changed my life. It set in motion events I couldn't have imagined. Since then I've written letters to some 1,500 people who are in the position to influence and change Canada's deteriorating mental health and addictions system, spoken with politicians from Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie to Prime Minister Trudeau, been interviewed by the BBC, and discussed mental health with hundreds of students. Most recently, I wrote about my life and personal experiences with the mental health system. Many people have helped and supported my along the way. There are too many to thank but I owe a special thanks to Ken Armstrong. He wrote this article which launched me in this direction.
